Southern banana pudding, featuring layers of creamy vanilla pudding, ripe bananas, and vanilla wafers. Perfect for any occasion, this decadent treat is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.
– 1(14-oz.) can condensed milk – 1 1/3 c. whole milk – 1(5.1-oz.) instant vanilla pudding mix – 3 c. heavy cream – 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract – 1(12-oz.) box vanilla wafer cookies – 4 bananas, sliced into coins – 2 tsp. granulated sugar
Whisk together sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and instant vanilla pudding mix until smooth and lump-free, then chill until set.
Beat heavy cream and vanilla until stiff peaks form, reserving half for serving, and fold the remaining whipped cream into the pudding mixture.
Layer vanilla wafer cookies on the bottom of a trifle dish, followed by pudding mixture and sliced bananas, repeating until the dish is filled, ending with a layer of pudding.
Refrigerate the assembled pudding for at least 3 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld and the pudding to set.
Before serving, sweeten the reserved whipped cream with granulated sugar, dollop on top of the chilled pudding, and garnish with crumbled vanilla wafer cookies for added texture
