Avocado Toast

Avocado toast, a beloved brunch classic and a prominent 21st-century food trend, features creamy avocado spread on toasted bread, serving as a versatile canvas for both savory and sweet toppings. 

Ingredients

6 slices sourdough or whole-wheat bread 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil, divided 1 tsp. kosher salt, divided, plus more to taste 3 ripe Hass avocados 2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice

Ingredients

1/4 tsp. ground black pepper, plus more to taste Red pepper flakes, to garnish  6 hard boiled eggs 3 slices cooked bacon, crumbled Hot sauce, to taste

Set the oven to broil on high, placing the top rack close to the heating element. Broil bread for 1-2 minutes on each side.

Brush one side of the toasted bread with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.

Cut avocados, scoop the meat into a bowl, add lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mash gently and spread on toasted bread. Garnish with red pepper flakes if desired.

Grate a hard-boiled egg over each toast using a box grater. Season with salt and pepper.

Sprinkle bacon over avocado toasts and drizzle with hot sauce if desired.
